A Groundbreaking Nature Film from Tanzania
Chameleon Corridors is the first film to ever capture the unique behaviors of the six newly described Rhampholean chameleons of the Eastern Arc Mountains in Tanzania, alongside other rare and endemic chameleon species already known to science. This eye-opening nature film blends science, folklore, and conservation, inviting audiences to reflect on humanity’s role on Earth.
Why the Eastern Arc Mountains?
Stretching across Tanzania and into Kenya, the Eastern Arc Mountains are among the oldest mountain ranges in Africa. Their lush rainforests and grasslands have thrived for more than 30 million years, long before many of today’s iconic landscapes took shape.
They are recognized as one of the world’s great biodiversity strongholds, sheltering a remarkable variety of plant and animal species, including more than a hundred species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, along with over five hundred plant species and countless smaller creatures such as butterflies and insects. Yet many of these species are increasingly at risk of disappearing, making the region’s protection vital not only for global conservation but also for the communities in Tanzania and Kenya who depend on its forests, water, and other natural services.
Our Impact at the Kili Kids For Climate Festival
This first of its kind two-day festival in Usa River, Tanzania brought together 1,500 secondary school students from 27 schools across the northern region. The program featured more than 20 hands-on activities from tree planting, clay workshops, and upcycling of plastics and fabrics, to sessions on clean cooking, health and nutrition, and Indigenous storytelling.
As part of the festival, the Chameleon Corridors impact activities offered a unique way for students to reimagine their relationship with nature and overcome old superstitions about chameleons. Four interactive experiences were created: a screening of the Chameleon Corridors film, a storytelling and writing workshop where students crafted their own Climate Hero stories, a Chameleon Colouring Tent, and an Immersive Sound Experience that brought the forest to life. Together, these activities opened space for curiosity, empathy, and a deeper appreciation of biodiversity.
